During my wedding consultation with Elliott & Erica, I asked them the same question that I ask every couple; “what would your perfect day look like?” Now I knew that their answer was going to vary slightly because they had already expressed that they wanted to elope. Their perfect day was to have a small intimate soundside elopement at Jockey’s Ridge on the Outer Banks with just themselves and their baby. I couldn’t help but get a little excited as they talked about still wanting to have a first dance & possibly cutting a cake. I love that it was still important to them that they keep a few traditions even though they were going to elope. As I listened to their excitement and their desire to have this beautiful special moment to share just between themselves, I knew that these two deserved to have something extra special.
Since they wanted to still cut a cake, I wanted to make sure that they had a beautiful place for them to do that. And as I was planning, so many other ideas started flowing. I also thought that even if they’re not sending invitations; how sweet would it be to have one made so that they could have it as a keepsake? With all these ideas, I knew that I needed to reach out to my dear friend LeAnn who also just happens to be crazy talented to help me make it all possible. What was even more exciting is that when I shared some of these ideas with Elliott and Erica, they got even more excited about their elopement. They didn’t think that it was still possible to have this super gorgeous decor & setup for their elopement. They shared a few of their favorite wedding decor ideas from their original wedding plans and literally handed the entire design & idea process over to LeAnn and I.
With all that trust they put into us, I absolutely loved how calm and relaxing the day was for them. They couldn’t get over just how stress-free everything was for them! As we met at the Hilton Garden Inn we watched Erica wrote her vows as Miles played beside her. We then helped her as she finished getting into her wedding dress. Then helping her choose the best song to walk onto the beach to. As we arrived at the soundside, Jack from Boyce Productions and I were asked to sign the marriage certificate for Elliott and Erica. I have to say that was truly a first as a wedding photographer! I felt a little extra special being able to do that for them! As we got Elliott & Miles in place for the vow exchange, I loved seeing the smile on Elliott’s face. As he held on tightly to Miles, he turned as Erica made her way to the water’s edge, and there he was…..speechless. Erica was absolutely breathtaking as she walked thru the trail making her way to him.
When Erica reached Elliott, he gently grabbed her hand kissing it softly. They shared a quick little giggle as Miles happily said Momma! Miles was just as excited to see his momma that day. After sharing some of the most heartfelt vows, these two were finally pronounced husband and wife! We celebrated with some family portraits and then headed over to the oceanside for their intimate reception. I loved that we were able to completely surprise them! LeAnn designed an intimate sitting area with a small wooden door on top small wooden crates creating their table surrounded by multiple large accent pillows. She used potted succulents, oyster shells, driftwood & glass bottles with pieces of eucalyptus for the decor. I loved that their table settings were perfectly accented with coordinating monogrammed napkins. We also surprised them with a small cheese & fruit tray as well as a bottle of champagne for a toast. It was the perfect way to celebrate their union! They ended their celebration with a romantic slow dance by the water’s edge & romantic portraits as the sun was setting.
THANK YOU Erica & Elliott for inviting to celebrate alongside you guys & for trusting me with capturing your soundside elopement! I hope you will always cherish that day!! Enjoy a few of my favorites!!
