I first met Amy + Kevin last year when they were visiting Kevin’s hometown for their wedding planning & their downtown Raleigh engagement session. I had such a great time with them and so when they emailed me about shooting their All Saints and Stockroom 230 Military Wedding I couldn’t have been more excited!
When arriving at The Glass Box where Amy and her bridesmaids were getting ready, I was greeted with the most happiest, sweetest and excited group of ladies! It was just one big girl party! There was hair being done in one area, makeup in another and if the girls weren’t in the chair getting dolled up, they were practicing their sorority step dance for the reception. And man those girls can step and dance…and they weren’t even giving it their all so they didn’t mess their hair up! I couldn’t help but think if we’re having this much fun already this reception is going to be AMAZING!!!
When it came time to get in the dress, I loved how Amy wanted it to be just herself and her mom. So after all the bridesmaids left, we captured Amy as she stepped into her Sotterro and Midgley gown. And oh my gosh you guys!!! As she added each piece to complete her bridal look we were even more amazed at just how stunning she was. She just kept getting more and more gorgeous! I just loved watching all the smiles and sweet tender moments between Amy and her mom. But nothing prepared me for when Amy saw herself in the mirror as a bride for the first time. Here’s a little keynote….Amy is also in the Army. This girl is down-range a lot. She’s in a tight bun, neutral colored uniform and boots everyday she works. So it was even more of a special moment to see her reaction. It’s honestly my all time favorite candid moment. There wasn’t a tear…but the look on her face says it all!
After Amy was finally ready…she was ready for her first look with Kevin. And oh my gosh! Their first look had me crying!!! Here you see not 1 but 2 accomplished strong, tough as nails military service members become a groom and bride awaiting to for that special once in a lifetime first look. And at that moment they were at their most vulnerable state and the moment that they shared was so honest and raw. As they saw each other the tears just flowed! Kevin was just speechless and how could he not be! Amy was absolutely stunning and breathtaking! It was such a special and tender moment!
As Amy’s father walked her down the aisle you could see a joyful moment yet at the same time a sense of wishing he could hold on a little longer. When he hugged Amy before handing Kevin her hand, it was the most endearing hug between a father and daughter I had captured. He held onto her so tight as if he really didn’t want to ever let her go. And yes it made me cry as everyone else in the chapel did. LOL. I loved watching Kevin and Amy as they never looked away from one another as they said their vows. They were so in the moment. And as they walked back down the aisle as Mr. + Mrs. Jones you could see just pure happiness and excitement! And no military wedding is complete without the saber exit! It was so exciting to capture this honorary and special wedding exit!!
You know how I mentioned just a little earlier about knowing their reception was going to be nothing short of amazing right? Well oh my goodness! You guys I was right! Not only did Amy’s sorority do their step dance, Kevin and his fraternity guys did theirs too! Their guests NEVER stopped dancing! It was insane! From the first dances to everyone dancing it was just a good time! Amy & Kevin are so loved and it showed the entire day! I hope you enjoy a few of my favorites from their wedding!
