Over the weekend I met Alex + Alex (yes you read that right….they have the same name! How cool is that?) in Raleigh for their Spring NC State University engagements. Let me just tell you it was pretty interesting when I would try to direct them through the posing! I had to find a way that I could communicate without having to grab both of their attention at the same time. And saying female Alex or Male Alex was just not cutting it. LOL So using a nickname was the next best thing I could think of. And then it got even more hilarious to say the least.
I was so excited when they chose their university campus for their session location. I love the look and vibe that the college campus provide for sessions. And what better location to use than a location that has significance to you? I hadn’t been on the campus for a while and most certainly not during the springtime. And I have to say it’s really gorgeous in the springtime! Anyone who has been on the NC State Campus knows it’s like the land of bricks. There’s brick walkways, brick buildings, brick steps and brick walls. Everywhere you look there’s brick! So when you find all these walkways lined with azaleas that are blooming so beautifully; you can’t help but get so excited! I just love how these flowers really softened the location & bricks; creating this gorgeous romantic feel to their session.
As we walked through the campus, Alex + Alex wanted to be sure to have some of their portraits done on the steps of the former dorm 1911 Building which overlooks the Court of NC. The court of NC is absolutely one of my favorite places on campus to shoot portraits! I love how the court slopes upward to the hill in which the 1911 Building is sitting. It’s such a beautiful view of the campus. Just seeing how open the Court is now, I can’t even begin to imagine how it looked when it had 100 trees (one for each county of NC). With just a short walk we ended their session at another iconic campus spot, the Belltower.
I can’t wait for their fall wedding later this year in Gates, NC! Here’s a few of my favorites from their engagement session! Enjoy!!
